Tackling projects with a team almost always has a better outcome, because I grew up knowing this quote ” two heads are better than one”. But having more than one head doesn’t only mean more ideas, it also makes the difference when it comes to being productive. The only problem is getting both heads on the same page and headed in the right direction .



Team as defined by BusinessDictionary is  “A group of people with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project ”


That complicates things right from the start. There are actually two separate ideas in this definition that need individual solutions.


First, “a group of people…” clearly states that there is more than one person. That means a combination of personalities, habits and experiences. Effective and clear communication is vital when it comes to getting multiple individuals in sync and working together.


Second, “a full set of complementary skills…” means that all the pieces of the puzzle need to be there to get the job done. It’s all about having access to the right information and being able to easily exchange it with your teammates. Constant knowledge sharing makes or breaks the outcome of a project.


A team is also group of individuals who should constantly be striving to improve. In other words, when more than one individual works together, perfection is never possible, so the group needs to try to constantly increase efficiency.


Important Factors  to Increase Your Team’s Productivity.


As technology becomes increasingly accessible and the pace of change hastens across the business landscape, efficiency and speed of execution are becoming key to success. Here, are important aspects to note on how to maintain team productivity in businesses to stay ahead in such a fiercely competitive market.


*  Document and share a vision :- Any company is lacking without a clear vision to guide its decision-making. How can you arrive at any port without some sort of destination in mind? According to serial entrepreneur and Lexmark executive Rod Hogrefe, documenting and sharing your vision for each project helps employees take ownership of it, which in turn drives productivity.


* Encourage your team to set achievable daily goals :-  Accomplishment gives us a sense of momentum and success, and can help boost morale. Setting reachable targets for each day and checking them off as you achieve them will give you an actionable plan that has the tangible result of seeing your business progress.


* Find the tech that works for your team :-  Technology is almost an extra limb for the modern professional — without it, many of us would be unable to get our jobs done. With an ever increasing number of workplace apps, growing businesses need to be strategic in their software choices to get the most out of the technology available to them.


* Develop trust :- True productivity within a team is rarely achieved without mutual trust. And trust is earned, rather than demanded or expected. Your team needs to trust your judgement and decision-making as much as you need to trust your team. Learn as much as you can about your employees and help them reach their goals. In turn, they will respect you and feel they can rely on you.


* Impose deadlines :- Deadlines are a key tool of productivity. While everyone would like to have as much time as they comfortably need to finish a task, it can actually be detrimental to their performance. People tend to thrive under pressure, but too much pressure can make them crack, so it needs to be carefully balanced. Deadlines should be imposed seamlessly and calmly. Always present a deadline as achievable, and give your team an inspiring pep talk to set the tone.  


Deadlines need to be prioritized. You can’t simply impose twenty deadlines and expect people to remain calm and avoid panicking. No, deadlines are like tasks — they need to follow a hierarchy. It is the leader’s job to carefully plan out every deadline and put it in hierarchical order. This will give your employees a clear sense of direction and an action plan, and they will feel empowered to tackle the tasks with clear and precise guidance.
