It is always a good thing when the team can get so comfortable with work that it no longer feels like work. The office culture becomes so good that they are willing to go over and beyond to meet targets. Late nights begin to seem like night time with the guys and early morning are a thing to look forward to least you miss out on what the gang would be up to the whole day. Entrepreneurs could easily have their decisions and actions influenced by sentiments if they have become too familiar – pretty dangerous place to be.
This goes without saying that being friendly with the team is actually a healthy thing, but knowing where to draw shake things up is equally very important. When there is ever a need to get stuff done, forget about cajoling the team into it and give honest straight forward instructions. No one gets points for keeping everyone smiling and friends when the work is not being done. Clearly defining what needs to be done reduces trials and errors resulting in huge time saving and more productive work can be done. Straight forward instructions many times get the ball rolling and can significantly boost team’s productivity.
Entrepreneurs are like “Chief Errand Officers” for their organization and at the same time “Chief Information Officer”. The team will meet them when there is a question or knotty situation, clients will meet them to ask questions or make requests, partners will keep asking questions as they look to extract more value. It can be an overwhelming situation especially when there are not answers for a question. At this point, it is okay to admit you are out and ask questions. Instincts may tell you “Fake it until you have it” when you have not asked questions, don’t, yet.
This is 2017 use tools to enhance your work. From task scheduling to file sharing to conversations and idea polling, several tools exist that can do any of that. These little things keep entrepreneurs running around in circles. Declutter completely and boost your personal and team productivity.
